Our promise

Fevers, trips and busy weeks happen. Every Happy Fish student can get free makeup lessons: just update your child's attendance in the Parent Portal at least 2 hours before class. There are no admin fees and no documents to submit. We want every family to feel comfortable swimming with us, so we keep this as simple and as generous as we can.

What is a makeup lesson?

A makeup lesson is an extra lesson you get when you update attendance at least 2 hours before a class you cannot attend. It does not change your child’s regular weekly class, which stays exactly as it is. You simply pick another class with available space and book it through the Parent Portal.
A makeup lesson is not a way to postpone or pause your term. It is an additional slot that sits alongside your regular schedule.

How it works

Update attendance at least 2 hours before class
Update your child’s attendance in the Parent Portal at least 2 hours before the class starts. This is what gives you a makeup lesson: without it, the lesson is counted as used. No admin fee, no documents, no questions asked.

Book your makeup lesson when it suits you
Log in to the Parent Portal, look for a class with space and book it. You can do this anytime within your current 10-week term.

Need to change it again? No problem
If you cannot make the makeup lesson you booked, you can reschedule it again at no charge. There is no limit to the number of times a lesson can be rescheduled.

How long do makeup lessons last?

Active students: no expiry as long as you renew
Use your makeup lessons anytime within your 10-week term. When you renew for the next term, any unused makeup lessons carry forward with you. As long as your child is an active student, they never expire.
Taking a break: 15 days after your last lesson
If you decide not to renew, you have 15 days after your last lesson of the term to use any remaining makeup lessons. After that, they lapse.

There is no cap on the number of makeup lessons. Every absence updated in the Parent Portal at least 2 hours before class gives one makeup lesson, every time.

What is not covered

  • Postponement. Lessons and terms run on their scheduled dates. Update attendance in the Parent Portal at least 2 hours before each class you will miss to get a makeup lesson, which is exactly what makeup lessons are for. A 1-week term break, a year-end hold or deferment is only available on request: please contact us.
  • Cash value. Makeup lessons have no cash value and cannot be refunded or exchanged for credit.
  • Adult and Lady classes. This policy covers children’s classes. Adult and Lady class students enjoy unlimited self-practice sessions for as long as they are active students, in place of makeup lessons.

Why regular classes still matter

Makeup lessons are here for the days you really cannot make it. Coming every week is what builds your child’s confidence and steady progress in the water, and our coaches plan each term around that rhythm. We encourage families to treat the regular weekly class as the anchor and makeup lessons as the safety net.

Frequently asked questions

My child is sick this week. What do I do?
Update your child’s attendance in the Parent Portal at least 2 hours before class. You then get a makeup lesson and can book it whenever your child is well again. No medical certificate is needed.
We are going overseas for three weeks. Will we lose those lessons?
No, as long as you update attendance in the Parent Portal at least 2 hours before each class. Each one gives a makeup lesson. Book them anytime within your term, or let them carry forward when you renew.
Can I use a makeup lesson instead of my regular class?
A makeup lesson is an extra lesson, not a replacement for your regular slot. Your weekly class continues as usual, and the makeup lesson is booked on top of it.
I booked a makeup lesson but now cannot make it. Is there a fee?
No. Reschedule it again in the Parent Portal at no charge.
I have several makeup lessons left and my term is ending. What happens?
If you renew, they carry forward with you. If you choose not to renew, you have 15 days after your last lesson to use them.
Can I save my makeup lessons for a future term I have not paid for yet?
Makeup lessons carry forward when you renew. If there is a gap between terms, the 15-day window applies.
Can I transfer makeup lessons to a sibling or a friend?
Makeup lessons belong to the enrolled student and have no cash value.

What changed

For families who knew our previous rules, here is what is different:
  • The $15 admin fee for rescheduling a makeup lesson a second time has been removed. Rescheduling is now free, every time.
  • Documents are no longer required to extend makeup lessons. Extensions happen automatically when you renew.
  • The 15-day deadline no longer applies to active students. It only applies if you decide not to renew.
  • Makeup lessons are unlimited. A rescheduled class can be rescheduled again.
  • Makeup lessons need an attendance update in the Parent Portal at least 2 hours before class. A 1-week term break, a year-end hold (with a travel itinerary) or deferment (usually 3 weeks or more, with supporting documents) is available on request.
